Who we are

A Swiss foundation with a clear purpose

The QualiLife Foundation is a Swiss non-profit organisation with its legal seat in Zurich. It is officially recognised by the authorities of the Canton of Zurich as serving the public benefit and is exempt from taxes. It operates under the supervision of the Swiss Federal Supervisory Authority for Foundations.

Our purpose

To empower inclusive socio-economic integration: we provide universally accessible apps and services to people in a state of need, regardless of their background or ability.

  • Non-profit

A foundation under Swiss law that does not pursue profit. Every resource serves our mission.

  • Public benefit, tax-exempt

Officially recognised by the authorities of the Canton of Zurich as serving the public benefit and exempt from taxes.

  • Federally supervised

Under the supervision of the Swiss Federal Supervisory Authority for Foundations.

Our mission

We foster inclusive socio-economic integration by providing web apps and services accessible to everyone, free of charge for people in a state of need. Our LoLe® platform draws on cutting-edge cloud technology and artificial intelligence to serve individuals, public administrations, the private sector and non-profit organisations fairly.

  • Universal accessibility

Our apps are designed to be usable by everyone, whatever their abilities, language or digital skills, and they are free of charge for people in need.

  • Equity

We serve individuals, public administrations, companies and non-profit organisations on an equal footing.

  • Technology for people

We use cloud and artificial intelligence as tools for integration, never as an end in themselves.

Our operating model

PPN: public, private and non-profit, working as one

The PPN (Public-Private-Non-profit) collaboration model is today the most advanced form of cross-sector collaboration. It is a particularly effective framework because it brings together the complementary resources and skills of the three actors. It is also especially recommended when the stakes are high and the problem is complex, and when no single sector has all the resources, legitimacy, expertise or community access required.

  • Public sector

Government agencies at local, cantonal or federal level.

    What it brings
    • Legitimacy and institutional mandate
    • Public accountability
    • Regulatory power
    • Public funding
    • Scale
    Its limits
    • Bureaucracy and slow procedures
    • Political cycles
    • Budget constraints
    • Reluctance to take risks
  • Private sector

    For-profit businesses and corporations.

    What it brings
    • Efficiency
    • Technological innovation
    • Capital
    • Management expertise
    • Technical skills
    Its limits
    • The drive for profit
    • Less focus on social margins
    • Less direct community trust
  • Non-profit sector

Mission-driven organisations: non-profit organisations (NPOs), charities, community groups, associations and foundations.

    What it brings
    • Mission focus
    • Community trust
    • Flexibility
    • Local roots
    • Specialised knowledge
    Its limits
    • Limited funding
    • Smaller scale
    • Lack of technological scalability
    • Sometimes limited managerial or technical capacity

Why a triad?

Complex problems such as poverty, access to the world of work, public health or housing cannot be solved by a single sector. Each sector has unique strengths, but also inherent limitations. Working together in a triad, the three sectors complement one another and create a whole greater than the sum of its parts.

What makes a triad work

  • A shared goal, mutual benefit

All three partners agree on a common, measurable objective. The benefits are mutual but not identical. The public sector achieves its policy goals; companies fulfil their social responsibility and open up new opportunities; non-profits advance their mission and expand their impact.

  • A formal structure and governance

Successful triads are not improvised. They usually rest on a formal agreement that defines roles, responsibilities, financial contributions, decision-making processes and how success is measured.

  • Three kinds of value

The partnership aims to create value that is financial, social and environmental at the same time. Success is measured not only in financial terms, but in social impact and public good.

The PPN result

The PPN promotes the long-term sustainability of projects and services, eases communication between the parties, simplifies communication between citizens, social services and NPOs, and ensures greater public accountability and social mission, creating a more resilient and inclusive collaborative ecosystem able to face complex challenges such as social and economic inclusion and access to social or essential services.

Why it matters

The reality in numbers

In the European Union, poverty and exclusion are not a marginal problem. They affect tens of millions of people, and no single sector can take them on alone.

  • 95.3 million

people at risk of poverty or social exclusion

    21.6% of the EU population

  • 73.8 million

people at risk of monetary poverty

    16.7% of the EU population

  • 38.9 million

people in absolute or severe poverty

8.8% of the EU population, including 30.8 million in severe material deprivation

Even work does not always protect: 9% of people in employment in Europe are considered “working poor”, 38.6 million people.

And in Switzerland?

Even in one of the wealthiest countries in the world, poverty is a daily reality for many people.

  • 708,000

    people live in income poverty

    8.1% of the population

  • 176,000

people are working poor: employed, yet below the poverty line

    4.4% of people in employment

  • 5.5%

of the population go without important goods, services or social activities for financial reasons

    material and social deprivation
